LA CROSSE (WKOW) – A man convicted of killing his parents at their town of Barre Mills home will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Judge Scott Horne sentenced Eric Koula to life in prison on Wednesday. Judge Horne told Koula he will never be eligible for supervised release.
Prosecutors say Koula, a struggling day trader, was motivated by inheritance money when he fatally shot Dennis and Merna Koula in May 2010. Jurors found Koula shot his mother at her home office computer and then waited for his father and shot him as he walked into the room.
Koula maintained his innocence at his sentencing Wednesday, telling the judge he misses his parents and will continue to fight for his release because "the person who did this is still out there."
