Julie Johnson is ready to have her new dishwasher installed and says she has Call For Action to thank.
Johnson bought her current dishwasher three years ago from a big-name appliance company that she had good experiences with in the past.
But a recall notice for her machine led to a repair of the control panel, which was followed by the same panel breaking and needing to be replaced three more times in 2011 alone.
"The first time, under recall, I didn't have to pay anything," said Johnson. "The(other) three times I had to pay for the appliance company, had to pay for their labor."
And that labor cost added up to about $200.
The latest problem with the dishwasher doesn't have anything to do with the control panel. It sticks in the closed position, making it difficult to open. Also, Johnson says water no longer sprays from the bottom of the washer.
Johnson said she had had enough, so she called the manufacturer. She says she spoke to several of the company's representatives, who told her there was nothing they could do.
That's when Johnson called Call For Action, which she had seen featured on Channel 27.
"I had watched clips of other people being helped."
A CFA volunteer started making calls and Johnson says the manufacturer quickly got back in touch.
"Oh, they(the company) were very friendly, very helpful."
Johnson said she expects a call to set up delivery in the next 10 days.
The company is replacing her current dishwasher with a different model.
