UPDATE: Columbia Co. missing man found safe

CALEDONIA TOWNSHIP (WKOW) -- A man reported missing Thursday night has been found and he is safe.

The Columbia County Sheriff's Department says William Markus became lost and disoriented in a large wooded area near CTH DL in Sauk County. He was found around 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Markus is now with family members.

CALEDONIA TOWNSHIP (WKOW) -- The Columbia County Sheriff's Department is asking for help to find a man reported missing.

Officers are looking for 52-year-old William Paul Markus of Kansas City, Missouri. He was last seen early Thursday in the area of STH 78 in Caledonia Township, which is southwest of Portage along Lake Wisconsin.

Columbia County Sheriff Dennis Richards says Markus was wearing a plaid short-sleeved shirt and shorts.

Markus has medical conditions, including being diabetic, and he does not have his medications with him.

He is believed to be on foot.

Anyone with information on where Markus might be should call the Columbia County Sheriff's Department at 608-742-4166.
