Pride parade in Madison

Posted:

MADISON (WKOW) -- People packed the Capitol Square Sunday for the Wisconsin Capitol Pride Parade and Rally.

It's one of the largest parades in Madison. The event started with that parade at noon, followed by a rally with food and entertainment afterwards.

It's a day participants look forward to every year.

"It's good for people to see gays and lesbians, that we're just like them, we're not weird or anything and we're proud just proud to be out marching," says Lana Lawrence, from Madison.

The pride event also raises money for GSAFE-- the Gay-Straight Alliance for Safe Schools, which provides scholarships for LGBTQ youth.
