MADISON (WKOW) -- Wisconsin football head coach Bret Bielema took to Twitter on Sunday night to let the nation know that transfer quarterback Danny O'Brien will be Badgers' starting quarterback when the team opens the season on September 1 vs. Northern Iowa.
"Also had so many questions about our QB situation that want everyone to know we are going to start Danny O'Brien in our opener against UNI," Bielema wrote on his @BretBielema account.
"Both Curt and Joel had great camps as well, we are very fortunate that we have 3 QB's that can play winning football for us. On Wisconsin!"
O'Brien was competing with senior quarterback Curt Phillips and freshman walk-on Joel Stave for the starting job, but O'Brien is the only one of the three with significant experience, starting 17 games during his time at Maryland.
