MADISON (WKOW) -- The annual MDA telethon to support children with Muscular Dystrophy is once again being hosted and sponsored by WKOW. The annual telethon will take place over Labor Day weekend, on Sunday September 2, 2012. The telethon helps raise critical funds to support research to cure muscular dystrophy, send kids to camp, help pay for medical bills and various other helpful initiatives.
Ahead of the telethon, several fundraising efforts are underway. One of the most popular is the annual "Fill the Boot" campaign throughout various parts of the United States and here locally. One such "Fill the Boot" campaign is taking place on Wednesday August 22, 2012 through Friday, August 24, 2012 from 3 p.m. till 6 p.m. daily.
Firefighters from Local 311 will be walking the streets holding out their boots to collect money for the kids. As you drive by the area, you can drop a donation in their boot to help the MDA. Firefighters will be at various places throughout Madison, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
This is your chance to help 'make a muscle and make a difference!'
