MADISON (WKOW) -- Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen says a Necedah man will stand trial on 20 counts of possession of child pornography after waiving his right to a preliminary hearing in Juneau County Circuit Court on Thursday.
Officials say the charges against Bradley Carver resulted from an investigation by the Wood County Sheriff's Department into the use of "peer-to-peer" file sharing programs for distribution of child pornography.
According to the criminal complaint, investigators were able to track an Internet protocol (IP) address that was later determined to be assigned to Carver. Officials say they saw files suspected to be child pornography distributed though the IP address by monitoring traffic on the peer-to-peer software.
The criminal complaint also alleges that when a search warrant was conducted of Carver's computer and digital storage devices, more than 10,000 images and videos of suspected child pornography and child erotica were recovered by investigators.
Carver faces a maximum of 25 years in prison for each count or a fine of not more than $100,000, or both.
Carver is scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment on September 13.
