JANESVILLE (WKOW) – Janesville Police Officers arrested a Beloit woman for having an open intoxicant in the vehicle while driving with her 1-year-old child.

Authorities received a call around 2:53 a.m. Saturday morning for an injury accident on Beloit Avenue, which is just south of Venure Drive.  The reporting person said the driver of a southbound car had struck a light pole in the median area.

Officers made contact with the driver and identified her as Janice A. Rook, 32-year-old from Beloit, who admitted to drinking before the accident.

Officials said the officers found an open bottle of vodka in the passenger compartment.  Rook was unable to perform field sobriety tests.

Authorities said Rook's 1-year-old child was in the vehicle at the time of the accident.  The child was examined at a local hospital and found to have no injuries.

The Janesville Police Department said Rooks was arrested for OWI 3rd offence with child under the age of 16, knowingly operate after revocation causing property damage and open intoxicants in a motor vehicle.
