Patriot Tour ends in Wisconsin

Posted:

A 100-mile ride that included roughly 80,000 motorcycles along the way ended where it started, in Oconomowoc.

Today was the final leg of the annual Patriot Tour, which hit 48 states and covered 14,000 miles.

Organizers say money raised through the ride goes directly to the families of wounded veterans.

"The best way we honor the sacrifice they make for the freedoms we hold dear is to make sure a little bit of them shines in our life everyday," said Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, who was among the speakers.

Another was Greg Gassen, the father of Army Private First Class Jacob Gassen. The Beaver Dam soldier was killed in Afghanistan, in November 2010.

"If Jake had anything to say about it he would say this is a really good thing to honor the soldiers," Gassen said.
