TOWN OF MADISON (WKOW) -- Authorities say two officers were involved in a shooting early Sunday morning.
Officials say an officer from the Town of Madison Police Department and an officer from the Fitchburg Police Department were both involved in the officer involved shooting which occurred around midnight on Sunday.
Authorities say officers shot and injured a man who allegedly had been brandishing a gun and accosting people near the
intersection of Fish Hatchery Road and Greenway Cross.
Officials say the man displayed a firearm and an officer shot at the suspect.
The
suspect was sent to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Police aren't aware of any other injuries from the incident.
Officials say both officers are on paid leave which is standard protocol for an officer involved shooting.

Fitchburg police Lt. Chad Brecklin says officers were called just after midnight Sunday to investigate reports of a man displaying a handgun and trying to rob people or enter occupied vehicles. Officers responded to the intersection of Fish Hatchery Road and Greenway Cross.
Sergeant Don Bomkamp of the Fitchburg Police Department says the suspect went into the Club Five parking lot.
Bomkamp says, "The subject displayed a firearm and an officer shot at the suspect."
The suspect was sent to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Police aren't aware of any other injuries from the incident.
The Fitchburg officer who fired has been placed on paid leave while the investigation takes place, which is standard protocol for such situations.

According to the Wisconsin State Journal, the shooting happened near the Five Nightclub around midnight on Sunday.
