
MADISON (WKOW) – Madison Police arrested a man involved in a robbery Saturday afternoon.
Police arrested 32-year-old James M. Pope for robbing a Madison man around 3:55 p.m. in a PDQ parking lot located on the 1400 block of Northport Drive.
Authorities said the 19-year-old victim met the suspect on the east side of Madison and was offered a ride to the north side. When both men arrived at the parking lot, the suspect demanded gas money from the victim.
Police said the suspect pulled out a knife and placed it on the victim's neck. The victim gave the suspect money. The suspect fled WB on Northport Drive in a vehicle.
Authorities said no injuries were reported.
A Madison Police Sergeant later observed a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect vehicle on Sherman Avenue. The Madison Police Sergeant made the stop and noted that the driver also matched the description of the robbery suspect. The driver also had a warrant.
Madison police charged the suspect with the armed robbery along with other charges. Pope was also charged with armed robbery, possession of cocaine base and a probation hold.
