MADISON (WKOW) -- History lovers get to experience 19th-century cooking firsthand at a western Wisconsin mansion this month.
The building is the centerpiece of a Victorian estate built by the family of Hercules Dousman, an entrepreneur who amassed a fortune through the fur trade and other investments.
The Villa Louis mansion is offering hands-on cooking workshops September 22 and September 29. Participants prepare a Victorian breakfast using food and technology from the time period. Guests then get a tour.
Tickets are $40 per person.
The Villa Louis mansion is located in Prairie du Chien.
