MADISON (WKOW) -- Police arrest a man for his sixth drunking driving offense.
A concerned citizen followed the driver Monday evening, saying he ran several stoplights along East Washington Avenue, nearly hitting many vehicles. Police say when they stopped him, he provided a fake name and told the officer that many cars had cut him off and he ran into the cars. The suspect is now being investigated for several hit-and-run crashes, all of which appeared to have been minor.
Police say the suspect's blood alcohol test registered a 0.28. They allegedly found several bottles of beer under a blanket in the back of the car he was driving. His vehicle was damaged.
Police arrested 21-year-old Yiye Jose Velasco. He is also known as Jose Garcia Gamboa. Velasco was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence - 6th Offense and Resisting/Obstructing.
