MADISON (WKOW) -- Wisconsin wants to keep nearly $20,000 in cash that was seized in alleged sports-betting operations.
The state Department of Justice filed complaints asking a judge declare the money as contraband. State officials want it transferred to the State School Fund.
The money was seized in relation to cases from 2005 and 2007, but no criminal charges were filed in either. Money was taken from four people in amounts ranging from $3,800 to $6,800.
The Justice Department says the money is being held by its Division of Criminal Investigation in Madison.
