ROSENDALE (WKOW) -- The San Francisco 49ers are coming to Green Bay this week to take on the Packers.

But their general manager came to Wisconsin a little early, because he was coming home.

Trent Baalke returned to his hometown of Rosendale.

He spoke to Laconia High School students about his job in the NFL.

"Life is a journey. The decisions you make along the way have a great impact on the direction that you go, so everyone has to make choices, and it's not always going to be the best choice, but you got to own it and make the best of it."

Baalke says learning about competition started early on.

"Growing up here with the friends I had, that was a big part of our life. Every day, the playgrounds, you know, just going out and competing. You learn it at a young age, and it never leaves you."

Baalke is in his second year as the GM for the 49ers.

He graduated from Laconia High School in 1982.
