Romney off, Ryan campaigns in Colorado

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (WKOW) -- While the Democrats have the spotlight this week at their national convention, the Republicans are working to keep some of the attention on them.

GOP vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan held a rally in Colorado on Thursday.

It's a key swing state, where President Obama delivered his convention speech in 2008.

"We believe we owe you our fellow citizens more than just pointing out the obvious or pointing out the sharp critique of our adversaries. We owe you solutions. We owe you a vision of how we will replace this problem by reapplying our founding principles. And that is exactly what we are doing," said Ryan.

Mitt Romney is taking a few days off from campaigning, preparing for the first of three debate with President Obama on October 3.
