Ohio man arrested in hit-and-run; 5th OWI offense

DICKEYVILLE (WKOW) -- Police arrest an Ohio man for his fifth OWI offense.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office was called about a hit and run accident to several vehicles along Main Street in the Village of Dickeyville Thursday evening. Deputies say the driver fled the scene, but was later found west of Cuba City on County Highway H in the Township of Smelser.

The driver, Dennis Barghols, 60, was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated. Investigators say this is his fifth offense. Barghols was taken to the Grant County Jail and is awaiting his initial appearance.

Barghols was also cited for Inattentive Driving, Hit and Run Unattended Vehicle, Fail to Notify Police of Accident, Operate Motor Vehicle without Insurance, and Knowingly Operating a Motor Vehicle without Driver's License Causing Property Damage.

The Sheriff's Department would also like to thank the witnesses who followed the offending vehicle until it was stopped by police.
