Posted:

STITZER (WKOW) -- The Grant County Sheriff's Department announced the arrest of a man deputies say fired a gun while he was intoxicated.

Officers were called to a report of shots being fired on CTH E near Commercial Street around 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5.

Deputies found 32-year-old Scott Martin had fired three shots from a .45 caliber handgun. Martin told investigators he fired into a nearby corn field to scare away a stray dog from his property because his dog was in heat.

During their conversation, officers smelled intoxicants on Martin.

Martin was arrested for endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon. He was taken to the Grant County Jail and was released on bond.
