MADISON (WKOW) -- This Capitol City Sunday, Editorial Page Editor from the Wisconsin State
Journal, Scott Milfred, joins us to give him impressions of the recently-completed political conventions. We asked where he believed the parties stood after their respective events.
"Overall, it did seem like the Republicans got a little bit of a
bump, based on the polling, based on the polling," Milfred said. "I haven't seen the polling from this(Democratic) one.
Probably it will come a little bit back. In the end, I'm not sure it
changed a lot of minds."
Scott also gives us his thoughts on the uphill climb he thinks
Democratic Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin faces in her U-S Senate race against Republican Tommy Thompson.
"I think she's gonna hit hard American jobs. Jobs, jobs, jobs
here in the USA, And hit trade issues," he said. "And then she's gonna say Tommy
went to D.C. and never came back, he checked out and he's not the same
Tommy he used to be."
Channel 27 WKOW Capitol Bureau Chief Greg Neumann recently wrapped up our coverage from the Democratic
Convention, and this Sunday we look back at some of his more interesting interviews in
Charlotte. That includes a take on Mitt Romney from fellow former Governor Jim Doyle.
"Ironically, we worked together on health care, and Massachusetts
and Wisconsin developed into the two highest states that had the highest
percentage of people covered with health care," Doyle told us. "Now he's running away
from that."
And after a long summer of politics, we focus on something on which we can all agree: the beauty of Wisconsin's fall colors. We're joined by Wisconsin Secretary of
Tourism, Stephanie Klett, who talked with us about a few of Wisconsin's hidden gems.
"Southeast Wisconsin is gorgeous," she said. "And plus, in the southwest
corner of the state you can catch the Great River Road, which is a
national scenic byway. It just won prettiest drive in the United States
by the readers of the Huffington post."
Capitol City Sunday starts at 9:00a.m. Sunday, right here on Channel
