MARSHFIELD (WKOW) - Marshfield police say a 20-year-old Marshfield man is in custody in connection with the death of 18-year-old Maisie McCullough.
Officials say Gabriel Luis Campos is being held at the Wood County Jail.
Authorities say there are no other suspects in this case. According to a police report, Campos, the father of McCullough's 2-year-old son was taken into custody as a "person of interest" in the case. He was found early Saturday morning at a Wisconsin Rapids motel.
Police say the child was also found at the motel unharmed and is now with family.
The Wood County Deputy Coroner reports McCullough died Friday night after her throat was slit and she was stabbed in the back.
The Marshfield Police Department is investigating the incident. Authorities are now waiting for results from a toxicology report, but the deputy coroner says he does not suspect drugs or alcohol were involved in her death. Toxicology results should be available within three weeks.
