Local students serve homeless veterans

MADISON (WKOW) -- Some Madison College students showed their appreciation to 9/11 rescuers and all veterans Tuesday night.

The students served dinner at the Porchlight veterans building on Spring Street in Madison.

Porchlight is a place for homeless vets to stay and get help with employment training, health care and other benefits.

One veteran said it feels great to know that people are supporting them.

"It's awesome. It's very awesome because I went 27 years without any benefits. And I'm finally receiving everything I deserve," said Army veteran Stephen Bryant.

Organizers of the meal said they looked forward to meeting local veterans and learning about their experiences.
