NEW YORK (WKOW) -- McDonald's says it will post calorie counts on menus in restaurants across the country. This will start next week ahead of a new regulation that requires the information.
McDonald's will make the changes as it tests healthier menu items. An example would be an Egg McMuffin made with egg whites and a whole grain muffin.
The company also plans to test versions of the McWrap. The McWrap is also sold in Europe and is less than 350 calories. More fruits and vegetables will be available, but it's a limited-time offer.
A health care overhaul will require chains with more than 20 locations to post calorie counts. This will be in effect as early as next year.
