Uncle mourns death of Ambassador Stevens - WKOW 27: Madison, WI Breaking News, Weather and Sports

TIGERTON (WKOW) -- The attack in Libya that killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens hit especially close to home for a Wisconsin man.

Stevens' uncle lives in Tigerton, between Green Bay and Wausau.

Don Slicer says his sister called around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday to tell him about Stevens' death.

He says he's been communicating with his nephew's parents, who are devastated.

"They were so proud of Chris. And, for this to happen, I can't even, yeah. I can tell you from my personal experience that losing a son is just devastating," said Slicer.

Slicer said he's shocked that his nephew was killed in the attack, but not surprised that the attack happened.

He said he was always a little nervous because of the instability in Libya.
