Milwaukee officer shot during struggle with suspects

MADISON (WKOW) -- A Milwaukee police officer is recovering Friday, after he was shot during a struggle with two suspects.

Two police officers responded shortly after midnight Friday, to a report of shots fired on the 4800 block of N. 21 Street. While investigating, the officers encountered two suspects who immediately began to argue with them. The argument led to a physical struggle. During the struggle an officer was shot in the leg. His injuries are non-life threatening. Both suspects are in custody.

The officer injured in the incident is 24 years old, and has two years of service.

The suspects are ages 24 and 39. The 39-year-old has a criminal arrest record for recklessly endangering safety, battery and drug charges. The 24-year-old has an arrest record for operating after revocation.

The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating the incident.
