Baldwin leads Senate race in latest PPP poll

Posted:

RALEIGH, NC (WKOW) -- For the first time, Tammy Baldwin leads Tommy Thompson in the latest poll on Wisconsin's U.S. Senate race.

The survey from Public Policy Polling shows Baldwin with a 48%-45% lead.

The margin of error is 3%.

All previous polls had Thompson in the lead.

Local republicans say they're not concerned about the results.

"I think I'd wait for a couple other polls like the Marquette poll to see a broader sense of what's going on. PPP said Barrett was closer than he was. I wouldn't overreact to one poll," says Jeff Waksman of the Republican Party of Dane County.

The poll was paid for by Democracy for America, an organization that has endorsed Baldwin.

We'll get another look at this race Wednesday, when the latest Marquette Law School poll is released.
