NORWALK (WKOW) -- Authorities have found a body in a burning car in Monroe County and are trying to figure out who it is.
Officials say the car fire happened Tuesday morning near Norwalk. Monroe County Sheriff Pete Quirin says while firefighters worked to put the fire out, they discovered a body in the car.
The La Crosse Tribune reports the sheriff's office asked the Wisconsin Crime Lab and state investigators to help identify the person and whose vehicle it is.
Authorities say the car was burned so badly, they couldn't tell what make or model it was. But, they do know it was not in an accident.
The death is being investigated as suspicious. Officials say they don't know if it was someone who fell asleep while smoking in the car, or whether it was a suicide or homicide.
