MADISON (WKOW) – Young patients at American Family Children's Hospital got a special visit Thursday afternoon.
Bucky Badger and several University of Wisconsin-Madison football players stopped by to talk with the patients and pose for pictures. They kicked off festivities as part of the Greater Bucky Open Golf Tournament.
The event organizer says getting visitors like this is a big deal to the young patients.
"You know you just walk in the room, like me I walk in the room, kids don't care about me. Football players, you know, eyes open up a little bit and then Bucky comes in and they're like holy! you know so it's pretty fun," said Greater Bucky Open Founder Derek Hildebrandt.
Madison police officers also stopped by to visit and hand out toys. The Greater Bucky Open will be held Friday at the Blackhawk Country Club. The money raised will benefit the American Family Children's hospital and the Bucky Badger Student Mascot Program.
