
TOWN OF DODGEVILLE (WKOW) – One dead and three injured after a one vehicle crash early Sunday morning in the Town of Dodgeville.
Iowa County Sheriff's Office responded to the motor vehicle crash on State Road 23 North of Goldmine Road around 3:58 a.m.
Authorities said a vehicle driven by Ryan Wells, 22-year-old from Lone Rock, traveled into the ditch line of State Road 23, struck a field driveway, went airborne and overturned. There were four occupants in the vehicle.
Iowa County Sheriff Steve Michek said one of the three passengers, 17-year-old Wyatt Caygill of Dodgeville, was ejected from the vehicle and killed in the crash. Caygill was pronounced dead at the scene by Iowa County Deputy Coroner Wendell Hamlin.
Authorities said the other two passengers in the vehicle, 16-year-old Tory Rowe of Spring Green and 20-year-old Beran Kiefer of Lone Rock, were transported to Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville. The driver of the vehicle, Wells, was also taken to the hospital.
Officials said seatbelts were used by the driver of the vehicle and alcohol does appear to be a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
