Fitchburg Water Utility to flush water mains next month

FITCHBURG (WKOW) -- The City of Fitchburg Utilities will be flushing water mains next month.

Fitchburg officials say the water main flushing will take place from Monday, October 15 through Friday, October 19.

During that time, residents may notice that the water is discolored. Officials say discoloration can be cleared by running the cold water tap for a few minutes.

City officials also recommend that residents do their laundry in the evening hours to avoid damaging clothes. That's because the water should be clear at night.
