TOWN OF MADISON (WKOW) -- The two officers involved in a shooting in the Town of Madison in the beginning of September will not be held criminally liable.
Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne informed the Town of Madison and City of Fitchburg Police Departments on Friday that he has finished his review of the officer-involved shooting of Altreo Scott on September 2.
Ozanne made the conclusion that there is no potential criminal liability for the officers involved after attending briefings by investigators, an inspection of the scene shortly after the incident, a review of summary reports and other evidence.
Town of Madison officer 31-year-old Jonathan Weaver and City of Fitchburg officer Lucas Hale were put on paid leave after the shooting.
On September 2, officers were called to called to the intersection of Fish Hatchery Road and Greenway Cross in the Town of Madison. Police say Scott of Platteville was displaying a handgun, threatening people and attempting to rob others at gunpoint.
When Officers Weaver and Hale approached Scott, he pointed a weapon at them. The officers then shot at the suspect.
Scott received non-life threatening injuries as a result of the incident. He is charged with armed robbery, disorderly conduct and possession of THC.
