DETROIT (WKOW) -- General Motors in recalling 40,859 cars because of possible fuel leaks.
The vehicles have plastic parts in the fuel pump that could crack, which is a fire hazard. GM says the problem is more common in warm-weather states.
The Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 sedans from the 2007 through 2009 model years and the Chevrolet Equinoxes, Pontiac Torrents and Saturn Ions from 2007 model year are being recalled by the company.
The recall affects cars sold or currently registered in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada or Texas. Owners in Arkansas and Oklahoma are also included in the recall of the 2009 Cobalt and G5.
