Sheriff investigates voting by Vos' wife

Posted:

RACINE (WKOW) -- The Racine County Sheriff's Office is investigating votes cast this year by Samantha Vos, the wife of Republican lawmaker Robin Vos.

The investigation was prompted by a complaint lodged by former Democratic state Assembly candidate Roberta Retrum.

In the complaint, Retrum states Vos voted in Wisconsin's April 3 primary and subsequent elections, despite declaring to an Idaho court that she was a resident of that state. Wisconsin law requires 28 days of consecutive residency to vote.

Vos' sworn affidavit of residency in Idaho was in connection to her legal separation from Robin Vos.

Robin Vos, Samantha Vos, and Samantha Vos' attorney have returned no calls from 27 News seeking comment.

Rep. Vos (R-Burlington) told The Journal Times newspaper the complaint was politically motivated.
