1992 missing woman case turned over to state

Posted:

TOWN OF MENASHA (WKOW) -- An investigation into a woman's disappearance 20 years ago is turned over to the state.

Laurie Depies went missing in 1992 in the Town of Menasha. She was just 20 years old when she vanished from an apartment complex parking lot.

Police Lieutenant Mike Krueger spent countless hours on the case and has generated enough reports on it to fill multiple cabinets.

Krueger has now retired and the case has been turned over to the state Division of Criminal Investigation. The Appleton Post-Crescent reports Krueger's extensive work on the case has created a strong bond with the Depies family. Depies' mother, Mary Wegner, says "it's like losing your buddy," because Krueger has been on the case since day one.
