DANE COUNTY (WKOW) -- Authorities say their investigation into Monday's fatal bicycle versus truck crash in the Town of Westport is ongoing.
The Dane County Sheriff's Office say their preliminary investigation into the crash on Highway M is consistent with the driver's admission that he fell asleep at the wheel.
Officials say a witness also reported seeing Tyler Grulke's pickup truck drifting towards the shoulder of the road several times before he hit the bicyclist.
The bicyclist was identified Tuesday as 37-year-old Carrie Pete, of Madison. Officials say she died due to blunt force trauma sustained in the crash.
Dane County officials say this fatality crash remains an open investigation. Once their investigation is complete, the sheriff's office will forward their information to the Dane County District Attorney's Office for any possible charges.
