Madison firefighters teach students about fire safety

MADISON (WKOW) -- It's Fire Prevention Week, and Madison fire officials want to make sure you and your family are prepared in the event of a house fire.

There has already been one fire fatality in the city this year, and firefighters say that's one too many.

The City of Madison Fire Department is taking their message of safety and precautions to elementary students. This year's theme is "Be Rabbit Ready -- Have 2 Ways Out."

Madison firefighters are teaching of the importance of having working smoke detectors and a evacuation plan. Firefighters say showing kids the importance of fire prevention will make a difference when they're at home.
