BELOIT (WKOW) -- The Beloit School District says Robinson Elementary School will be closed Wednesday, October 10 because of problems with the building's foundation.

City officials say construction of an addition behind the school caused the foundation under the gymnasium to collapse, causing cracks in the north wall of the gym. Officials say the wall itself did not collapse.

No students or staff members were in the gym at the time. No one was hurt.

Crews stopped work and the school was evacuated when it happened Tuesday afternoon.

Robinson Elementary is closed Wednesday while repairs are made.
