MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- U.S. Senate candidate Tommy Thompson's son apologizes after being caught on video suggesting voters should send President Barack Obama back "to Kenya."
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Jason Thompson made the comments Sunday during a brunch hosted by the Kenosha County Republican Party. The newspaper says the video was taken by a Democratic Party operative and posted at BuzzFeed Politics Sunday.
President Obama was born in Hawaii, but his father was Kenyan.
Thompson's campaign released a statement, saying Jason Thompson apologized for saying something he shouldn't have.
Thompson is running against Democrat Tammy Baldwin for the U.S. Senate seat. A Baldwin spokesman declined to comment.
