MADISON (WKOW) -- Police are looking for suspects as they continue investigating a sexual assault that occurred near downtown early Saturday morning.
Madison police say a 21-year-old woman contacted them and reported being assaulted around 3:00 a.m. Saturday while walking in an alley behind the 1800 block of Monroe Street.
According to police, the victim told investigators three men pushed her to the ground. She lost consciousness, and believes she may have been sexually assaulted. She told police one of the men had a handgun (see police sketch).
Madison police have released descriptions of the three suspects:
-White man, 20-35 years old, 5'8", medium build; was last seen wearing a dark jacket and jeans.
-White man, 20-35 years old, 6'2"-6'3"; was last seen wearing a black and green baseball hat, a dark jacket, and jeans.
-White man, 5'10", medium build; was last seen wearing a baseball cap with "Atlanta" on it, a dark jacket, and jeans.
As police dectectives talk with the victim and gather more information, they ask that anyone who saw suspicious individuals near the 1800 block of Monroe Street between 3:00 and 3:30 a.m. Saturday to call the South Police District at 608-266-5938 or Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
