UPDATE: Lockdown lifted at Racine high school

RACINE (WKOW) -- The Racine Unified School District has lifted the lockdown at Park High School.

An employee at the school told WISN 12 News that the school was placed in lockdown mode around 9:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Racine police say they received a report of shots fired in the 1900 block of Linden Avenue, which is located two blocks north of the school.

The school was placed in lockdown as a precaution. Officials lifted the restrictions shortly after 10 a.m.

In a release, the school district says, "As a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and staff, Park High School was secured while local authorities responded to the incident. When Park administration was given the all clear from authorities at 10:04 a.m., the building resumed the school day as normal. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We will continue to work with local authorities to maintain the safety of Park High School."

WISN-TV spoke with a school officials who says students are safe.

Racine police say they received the report of shots fired just after 9 a.m. Wednesday on the 1900 block of Linden Avenue, which is located two blocks north of the school.

According to police, a garage was struck by gunfire, but no one was hurt.
