MADISON (WKOW) -- The historic Orpheum Theatre in downtown Madison has new life.
The theatre will reopen under the management of Madison-based Frank Productions, the company in charge of the city's annual Halloween celebration Freakfest.
The Orpheum has been closed for months after losing its liquor license and the owners were in foreclosure.
As a long-time Madison resident, the president of Frank Productions, Fred Frank, says it means a lot to him to have the chance to rejuvenate the old vaudeville theatre.
"It's hard to walk downtown Madison and just see the place sitting dark and vacant and crumbling. We want to get back in there, get the lights on and then hopefully when it goes to the sheriff sale, we'll be the winning bid and bring life back to it," Frank says.
Frank says they have applied for a new liquor license and they'll find out in late November whether it has been approved. He says they hope to start putting on shows by the end of December.
