Manitowoc woman: Rings taken after mom died in hospital - WKOW 27: Madison, WI Breaking News, Weather and Sports

MANITOWOC (WKOW) – A Manitowoc woman says six jeweled rings disappeared from her mom's fingers in the hours after her death at a hospital.

Ann Stradal said she can't understand how someone could steal from a dead person.  Her mother, Jean Stradal, died October 11 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.

Ann said her mother's rings showed up on a CAT scan just before she died, but when she went to recover the rings from the funeral home the next day, the funeral director said he found no rings on her fingers.

Ann said the jewelry included a wedding band and engagement ring made of white gold and diamonds.

According to the Manitowoc Herald Times, the hospital official declined comment and noted police are investigating the situation.
