Beloit police end death investigation

Posted:

BELOIT (WKOW) -- Police say they have ended their investigation into how a Beloit man died last week.

Beloit police say 58-year-old Melvin Malone died on Friday. Emergency crews discovered his body around 3:10 a.m. Friday, after receiving a 911 call to a residence on the 300 block of W. Grand Avenue.

Authorities say Malone had a "fresh injury" on his forehead, which led to their initial suspicion into his cause of death. However, an autopsy was performed on Saturday, and the medical examiner says he died of a medical issue and not a criminal act.

Beloit police say based on the autopsy results, their investigation into Malone's death is complete.
