FOND DU LAC COUTY (WKOW) -- Officials say a former state Republican lawmaker was arrested Sunday evening for a domestic-related incident in the Township of Fond du Lac.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office says Randy Hopper was cited for Operating While Intoxicated, 1st offense, and taken into custody for Disorderly Conduct –Domestic Abuse, Criminal Trespass to Dwelling and Unlawful use of Telephone. Officials say the incident occurred on Rienzi Road around 10:15 p.m. Sunday.
Hopper was released from the Fond du Lac County Jail Monday morning after posting a $500 cash bond.
Authorities say their investigation into this incident is ongoing, and information will be forwarded to the Fond du Lac County District Attorney's Office for review. Officials are not releasing any other information at this time.
In June, Hopper was chosen to lead the Sheboygan County Economic Development Corp. to lead the county's effort to recruit new businesses and retain the existing ones.
The 46-year-old Republican was recalled
from office last summer, losing the recall election to Democrat Jessica King. Then, in October 2011, he was arrested for drunk driving. He was acquitted of the drunk driving charges earlier this year.
