MADISON (WKOW) – A Fitchburg woman was arrested for her fifth drunk driving offense after steering her car into a tree.
Madison police arrested 39-year-old Noelle Hart after she drove into a tree near the intersection of S. Whitney Way and South Hill Drive around 8:18 p.m. Tuesday.
According to the witnesses, Hart and a male passenger tried to walk away from the heavily damaged car, but Hart ended up staying at the scene.
Police say Hart told them she had consumed one beer. Police say Hart acknowledged past heroin use, but say she claimed she had not used heroin in the past couple of weeks.
Authorities say Hart told a police officer that she had taken a Xanax pill prior to the crash.
Police say needles were seized from the damaged car. Police also found other items typically used to ingest drugs in a vehicle.
Authorities arrested Hart for operating while under the influence-5th OWI, possession of schedule II narcotic, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating after suspension- 3rd offense, failure to have control of vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
