WALWORTH COUNTY (WKOW) -- Officials are investigating a fatal one-vehicle crash in the Town of Whitewater.
The Walworth County Sheriff's Office says an 11-year-old Delavan girl died at the scene of a crash Wednesday night on Highway 89.
Officials were called to crash on Highway 89 south of Island Road in the Town of Whitewater around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Authorities say upon arrival, deputies found a 2003 Nissan Sentra had left the highway and hit a utility pole with severe damage. The driver, a 17-year-old girl, was able to get out of the car. Another 17-year-old girl and the 11-year-old girl were trapped with critical injuries and had to be extricated by emergency crews. The 11-year-old was in the back seat, and the 17-year-old was in the front passenger seat.
Officials say the 17-year-old passenger was extricated and flown by helicopter to a hospital with critical injuries. There's no word on her condition at this time.
Officials with the Walworth County Crash Investigation Unit was called to the scene. Highway 89 was shut down for about three hours during the crash investigation.
The sheriff's office say this is an open, ongoing investigation. The names of the victims have not been released.
