MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- The Mount Horeb boys soccer team is one step closer to defending its Division 2 state title.
The Vikings beat Pewaukee 2-1 in the state semi-final Friday at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee.
Mount Horeb tied it up in the 16th minute on a second-chance shot by Brad Nagel. Freshman midfielder Steven Abalos scored in the second half to make it 2-1 and the Vikings held on from there.
"It feels great just to bring our team to the championship. We just knew we had to play our hardest and we played our hardest 'til the end. It paid off and now we're going to the championship game," Abalos said.
The Vikings will take on Xavier in the Div. 2 title match Saturday at 12 p.m.
