Career workshop helps unemployed veterans

Posted:

MADISON (WKOW) -- Out of work veterans got some help finding jobs Saturday. The Home Depot hosted a civilian career workshop in Madison.

It was an opportunity to learn job search strategies, resume development and interviewing skills. One woman said starting fresh after the military can be difficult. "I was working in a rural area and I had that I'm a reservist on my resume and she said, 'I'm sorry I just can't take that chance, thank you very much' and I left and I didn't know how to take that," Sandra Sommer said.

There are 720,000 unemployed military veterans across the country.
