Experts set to discuss invasive species in Wis.

LA CROSSE (WKOW) -- Several experts will be coming together to discuss the recent invasive species that have been hitting parts of the United States. They will also discuss ways to keep them from spreading in Wisconsin.

The Upper Midwest Invasive Species Conference runs Monday through Wednesday. Attendees will learn the latest on Asian carp, emerald ash borer, and other invasive species threats. The event brings together researchers, land and water area managers, private property owners, consultants, students and concerned citizens who are interested in improving invasive species research, prevention and management.

The Invasive Plants Association of Wisconsin, the Midwest Invasive Plant Network, the Minnesota Invasive Species Advisory Council and the Wisconsin Invasive Species Council are hosting the conference. Several state and federal agencies are participating. Organizers expect about 500 people to attend.
