MADISON (WKOW) -- The long, slow crawl up and down part of University Avenue is finally over.

The construction project from Segoe Road to Allen Boulevard was officially completed Thursday.

Although it probably seemed a lot farther to drivers who had to endure one lane of traffic all summer, the stretch was 1.9 miles.

The total makeover of the road and utilities cost $14.7 million.
