Fmr. Gov. Walker aide due for pre-trial hearing

Posted:

MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- A former aide to Governor Scott Walker is scheduled for a final hearing, ahead of a trial next month on theft charges.

Tim Russell was Walker's deputy chief of staff when Walker was the Milwaukee County executive. Russell is charged with stealing more than $21,000 from a nonprofit Walker asked him to lead.

Russell is due in court Friday morning for a pre-trial hearing. A jury trial is set to begin December 3.

Five other Walker associates have also been charged following a secret investigation Milwaukee prosecutors launched into Walker's office. Two were convicted last month -- one of stealing more than $51,000 that had been donated to help veterans and their families; and the other of doing campaign work at her taxpayer-paid county job.

Walker has not been charged.
